Introducing the Megalechis Thoracata, Hoplo Catfish, a resilient and sociable species suitable for community aquariums with medium-sized tankmates. Found across various South American countries, these catfish grow up to 15cm+ and thrive in temperatures between 18-28°C. Best kept in groups of five or more, they require spacious tanks with soft sand substrate and ample hiding spots. Adaptable to a wide range of water conditions, they enjoy a diet of sinking catfish pellets and frozen foods.

Roughly circular body with very tall anal and dorsal fins that are covered in scales along the leading edges. The anal and dorsal fins are far taller than any other mono, giving this fish an appearance similar to that of a freshwater angelfish. There are four vertical bands on this fish, one through the eye, a second at the level of the pectoral fin, a third running from the tip of the dorsal to the end of the anal, and finally a short band through the base of the tail.
