Description
Care has to be taken to ensure that Hypancistrus Sp. L236 gets enough food, as they can be a bit shy and slow to grab food when available.
They need an aquarium set up with lots of hiding places in the form of rocks, wood and, of course, specially-made caves that suit their measurements.
They prefer fairly warm water (27-30 C), soft and slightly acidic. It should be well-oxygenated and clean, so a sound filtration system and frequent water changes are essential.
Among themselves, they are relatively peaceful. Hypancistrus are primarily carnivorous, so a selection of crustaceans, insect larvae and fish meat should be offered along with high-quality dried foods containing some vegetable matter.
