They are calm fish, not especially territorial. If you plan on keeping several males in the same aquarium, make sure that you have enough space to create small physical barriers, reducing the risk of aggression.

Description
The Stiphodon ornatus (Rainbow Goby) is a rare freshwater goby that is native to West Sumatra, Indonesia. It is known for the multi-coloured spotting that the male and some female specimens display. Females are not as colourful but are still very attractively marked.
It is a very curious fish that is typically about 7 centimetres long and has the ability to change colour quickly. The colour varies from light green to dark brown, with dark-edged scales, if it feels stressed, it can pale considerably.
The aquarium must be conditioned with a gravel or sand bottom or a mixture of the two, with smooth rocks and pebbles of different sizes. Providing places to take shelter in a mature aquarium with aquatic plants and algae is preferable as algae is their main food. The quality of the water is important, with good oxygenation required at all times, the use of a good size filter is important.
