Oryzias Woworae

Description

The Oryzias woworae, also known as Daisy’s Blue Ricefish, is an exceptional fish species that is perfect for small fish tanks due to its very small size. With vivid colouration, and adaptability it can be the highlight in any peaceful community aquarium and it is a particular standout in a planted aquarium. These mostly subtropical fish can inhabit from freshwater to fully marine water.

The Oryzias woworae typically occupies the middle and top level of the water column and is safe with other peaceful, small fish. Larger, peaceful invertebrates can also make good tank-mates.

When keeping with dwarf shrimp, plenty of plants and cover is recommended. It is also best to introduce the dwarf shrimp to the aquarium before introducing the Oryzias woworae.

They should be kept in schools of 6 or more. Not only will it display its best natural behaviour and colouration in large schools, but it will also pay little attention to other species.

Hardy and adaptable, they still require clean, well-maintained water to thrive and they will display optimal colouration and health in a planted aquarium with a dark substrate, especially where floating plants are present. It has the ability to jump, so a secure aquarium lid is necessary.

While not a picky eater, the Oryzias woworae will thrive and remain very colourful on a varied diet of mostly omnivorous foods. High-quality flake food, pellets, live, frozen, or freeze-dried micro worms, and finely chopped bloodworms will all be readily accepted, it also requires some vegetable matter in its diet.
