Loricara Sp Rio Atabapo requires a long, sparsely planted tank, with plenty of open fine sandy areas on the bottom so they can bury themselves. The tank should have a few river rocks and a piece of bogwood or two to mimic the river conditions that they are typically found in.

Description
The Loricara Sp Rio Atabapo, also known as the ‘Crying Whiptail’, is a unique species of Loricaria. It has some very striking black stripes across its eyes. They are peaceful bottom dwellers that thrive on open sand beds where they can dig themselves into the substrate as it is a typical sand-dweller that should be given open space on the bottom of your tank. It’s best not to keep them with boisterous and oppressing species that outcompete them for food. They like meaty foods and should be fed a varied diet of quality dried and frozen foods.
They were initially discovered southeast of Bogota. However, the species has since earned the nickname L.sp.“Atabapo”, suggesting that it also occurs in the famous river much further east.
