Description

Bring a touch of the exotic to your aquariums with the mesmerising Etroplus Suratensis (Banded Green Chromide)! This stunning shoaling fish, native to the brackish waters of Asia, will leave you awestruck with its vibrant colours and captivating personality. The Banded Green Chromide is a fish that’s sure to turn heads and become the star of any aquarium.

These fish require a spacious and well-filtered brackish aquarium (minimum 4ft) with ample swimming space. We recommend providing plenty of hiding places with rockwork or driftwood, while still maintaining open areas for them to explore.

A stable alkaline pH is key for their well-being. Achieve this with a substrate of aragonite or crushed coral.

They do best in groups of 6 or more and should not be housed with small fish that could be intimidated or mistaken for a snack. Ideal tankmates include Archer Fish, large brackish gobies, Monos, and Scats.

  • As these fish mature, their colours and patterns intensify. Their transformation from juveniles to adults is a sight to behold!
  • Interestingly, they engage in a symbiotic cleaning relationship with juveniles of Etroplus maculatus, similar to marine wrasses. This adds to their unique and fascinating behaviour.
  • Omnivorous with a preference for frozen foods like Spirulina-enriched brineshrimp, mosquito larvae, Mysis shrimp, and krill. We offer a wide selection of high-quality foods to keep your Banded Green Chromides thriving.
  • Don’t forget to offer a good amount of vegetable matter like blanched spinach, kale, and dried seaweeds for optimal health.

Our team of aquatics specialists are always happy to answer your questions and provide care advice.
