Devario Auropurpureus is a relatively small fish, reaching a maximum length of about 10 centimetres (3.9 inches). It has a slender body with a forked tail. The body is covered with scales that are usually a silvery-opaque colour with 20 to 30 black vertical stripes on a golden-yellow band running across its sides. The fins are transparent whereas only the caudal fin displays some yellow colouration.
Devario Auropurpureus is a schooling fish and is best kept in groups of at least 6 individuals. It is a peaceful fish and can be kept with other peaceful fish of a similar size. It is an omnivore and will eat a variety of foods, including flakes, pellets, and live food.
