Description
Channa Quinquefasciata is brown with speckles on its flanks and five oblique bands. It is relatively straightforward in its needs and a good species for aquarists looking to keep snakeheads.
An aquarium in excess of 200 litres is recommended with a water current that is not too turbulent. The filter needs to be appropriate to a medium-sized carnivore with a good appetite. Soft, slightly acidic water conditions reflect its natural habitat best. A canopy of floating plants and plenty of bogwood will create the right sort of shady environment.
They are territorial so are best kept as a single specimen or in a mated pair.
