Channa Quinquefasciata

£30.00

Channa Quinquefasciata, as with other snakeheads, prefers live foods such as earthworms and river shrimps. It should get along with fish of about equal size, but shouldn’t be trusted with substantially smaller fish.

Description

Channa Quinquefasciata is brown with speckles on its flanks and five oblique bands. It is relatively straightforward in its needs and a good species for aquarists looking to keep snakeheads.

An aquarium in excess of 200 litres is recommended with a water current that is not too turbulent. The filter needs to be appropriate to a medium-sized carnivore with a good appetite. Soft, slightly acidic water conditions reflect its natural habitat best. A canopy of floating plants and plenty of bogwood will create the right sort of shady environment.

They are territorial so are best kept as a single specimen or in a mated pair.
