A beautiful species with a pinkish body marked with three reddish areas around small dark green patches. Another small dark spot is present at the base of the anal fin. The dorsal has a red patch about halfway up. Full colouration is only developed in the right conditions: the tank must be shady, with peat-filtered water and a dark substrate. Under average aquarium conditions, this fish can seem rather unremarkable because the colours fade away.
