Description
Blue Velvet Shrimp originated from the selective breeding of Red Cherry Shrimp in Taiwan. They inherit their vibrant blue hue from a special Neocaridina davidi gene, making them a unique and eye-catching addition to any aquarium.
These hardy shrimp thrive in a range of water parameters but prefer temperatures between 72° and 82° F and a pH between 6.8 and 7.5. They’re relatively undemanding when it comes to food, readily consuming algae, biofilm, and fish flakes. However, avoid overfeeding, as this can harm their water quality.
Blue Velvet Shrimp are prolific breeders in tanks without fish. They breed readily, producing clutches of around 20-30 eggs every few weeks. Their offspring will initially resemble their parents, gradually developing their signature blue colour as they mature.
Provide your Blue Velvet Shrimp with a well-planted aquarium offering plenty of hiding places. Live plants not only enhance their natural habitat but also help maintain good water quality. Driftwood, rocks, and caves are all excellent additions to create a comfortable and stimulating environment for these captivating shrimp.
Bring a splash of vibrant colour and life to your aquarium with the Blue Velvet Shrimp.
